The picture is a scene by the Laughing Brook with Peter Rabbit in background watching as Snapper the Turtle offers Little Baby Possum a ride across the stream. Aged lacquer appears over piece. Bright wonderful colors show Peter Rabbit seated at picnic table, under a full moon, and surrounded by 16 of his woodland friends. Reddy Fox stands talking to Peter. A beautiful piece. Charming woodland scene of 16 animal friends walking the Crooked Little Path as Bobby Coon is greeted by Johnny Chuck. Colors are crisp and bright. This piece was done just two years before the death of Mr. Cady. Mat has repair, artwork in excellent condition. Signature appears to be omitted as space was left for credit "illustrated by Harrison Cady". A marvelous original work of art!  $3700

A unique collection of papers from the personal files of Thornton W. Burgess's secretary. These files contained material she was planning to use for a book about T. W. Burgess. The book was never written as she lost her eyesight.

One of his earliest boyhood jobs was to bring home the cows from the community pasture on Town Neck, Sandwich. Aged paper, left edge ragged, blue ink. Waldo was a pen name Burgess used early in his career.  $10

This metal and celluloid stickpin featured the same Harrison Cady illustration of Peter Rabbit that was printed in their catalogues. Just over ¾" diameter. Rare Toy

110. TWB QUADDY PETER RABBIT PULL-TOY. Peter Rabbit hopping pull-toy with H. Cady illus. on each side. Manufactured by the Quaddy Co. under license with TWB. This pull-toy was manufactured c. 1919, in at least two sizes. This toy is the large size, at 13 ¾" long and 10 ¼" high, not including the wheels. The single front wheel is 2 ½: in diameter, and the two rear wheels are 5" in diameter. (The small size was 8 ½" long and 6 ¼" high, not including the wheels. The single front wheel was 1 ½" in diameter and the two rear wheels were 3" in diameter). In working condition: when pulled along a carpet surface, the rear bobs up and down like a hopping rabbit. Old repair to rear axle where it joins Peter Rabbit’s feet. (A rare Quaddy toy – this has never been offered in the Burgess auction).  $425
