visit with a naturalist and one of the resident animals. Learn about
life cycles, habits and habitats. Suitable for families with children
ages 2 ½ and up. Advance registration is not required.

Join a Society
naturalist for a nighttime hike along trails and pond edge as we search
for sight or sound of creatures of the dusk and dark. Practice your
screech owl call or fox bark. Listen for cricket chirps to count and
calculate the air temperature. Expand your hearing with homemade sound
catchers. Each walks last approximately 1.5 hours. Suitable for ages 4
and up. Pre-registration is required.

NATURE JOURNALING FOR
Join artist, writer and nature
journalist Mary Richmond for a fun late afternoon class creating a
nature journal. Designed for families, this outdoor class will be a walk
and draw type of class. Small sketchbook, pencil and colored pencils are
recommended. Suitable for adult and child ages 7 and up.

WITH TENTS CAMP OUT AT GREEN BRIAR
are invited to spend a summer overnight at Green Briar Nature Center.
Enjoy a night hike, owl calling, storytelling, s’more roasting and camp
song singing never far from a flush toilet. Sunday morning enjoy a
pancake breakfast and a visit with our animals before heading home.
Dates: July 1–2 or August 12-13
Time: Set Up is after 6:00pm. Naturalist-led
Programs begin at 7:00pm.
Tents down Sunday Morning by 9:00am.

TURTLE CATCHING, FISH JUMPING TOURS BY CANOE
Have you ever wondered what lies beyond your
sight from the pond edge at Green Briar? Would you like to explore the
secret coves and corners of the “Smiling Pool” pond while being steered
and schooled by a staff naturalist? Reserve your 1.5 hour private tour
in our stable canoe-catamaran for up to 8 people any Monday afternoon
from July 3 through August 21. All equipment is provided including life
vests, capture nets and trays. Suitable for ages 3 and up with adult.

HAVE A SPECIAL
at Green Briar
Have a fun and educational
birthday party at Green Briar. Choose from live animals, fairy houses,
jam or candy making, canoeing, "arty" party, and more! We provide a one
to two hour program with a naturalist with an additional hour allowed
for "party" time. You provide all the party-related food and items. Fees
vary with the program selected and are based on 10 participants.
Additional fees are charged for additional participants. Parties are
scheduled through the Education Department by calling 508-888-6870
