CRITTER CAPERS at GREEN BRIAR

Drop in for a half-hour visit with a naturalist and one of the resident animals. Learn about life cycles, habits and habitats. Suitable for families with children ages 2 ½ and up. Advance registration is not required.

Members: Free
    Non-members: $2 per person


ANIMAL STORY TIMES at GREEN BRIAR (September through June.) - During the spring, fall and winter months, Burgess Story Times are held inside at the nature center. Drop by and join a Society naturalist for a lively story of “Peter Rabbit” and friends and a visit with one of the nature center’s resident animals. Suitable for families with children ages 2 ½ and up. Advance registration is not required

Saturdays at 10:30am (September through June)

SCIENCE CART COMES TO GREEN BRIAR
Green Briar is rolling out the SCIENCE CART for exciting family fun. Through a donation from GenOn, we have purchased a rolling expanding storage unit with work top, which will house materials for on-going science explorations. We will be packing the cart with exciting activities for families with children ages 4 to 12 years of age. The cart will be staffed by our Education Department during the following dates and times. Call to register for each session.

HOMESCHOOL SCIENCE – Monday Mornings 10:00am-11:30am
(Oct. 3 - Dec. 19, Jan. 16, Feb. 20, and Mar. 5 - June 11)

SATURDAY SCIENCE – Saturday Afternoons (Year-round) 1:00pm -2:30pm

Animal Science Science in Motion - Design and create things that fly and move
Kitchen Science - Recipes for science fun
Constructing Science - Towers, cubes, boats
Earth Science - Rocks and Minerals, Soils

FAMILY CANDY MAKING CLASS - Work as a family to create 2 quick and easy recipes to take home and enjoy. Make Chocolate Truffles with Rainbow Sprinkles and Chocolate Fudge. Children must be at least 6 years of age to participate in any kitchen classes.
Member Family: $20      Non-Member Family: $25

FAMILY CANDY MAKING CLASS - Work as a family to create 2 quick and easy recipes to take home and enjoy. Make Butterscotch Bird’s Nests and Creamy White marshmallow Fudge. Children must be at least 6 years of age to participate in any kitchen classes.

HAVE A SPECIAL BIRTHDAY PARTY at Green Briar

Have a fun and educational birthday party at Green Briar. Choose from live animals, fairy houses, jam or candy making, canoeing, "arty" party, and more! We provide a one to two hour program with a naturalist with an additional hour allowed for "party" time. You provide all the party-related food and items. Fees vary with the program selected and are based on 10 participants. Additional fees are charged for additional participants. Parties are scheduled through the Education Department by calling 508-888-6870.
