We are pleased to announce that
our new Education Center building has been completed and is
now being used for classroom space, a home for our resident
animals, and offices for our education staff.
Additional landscaping work needs to be completed as well as
improvements to the Green Briar Nature Center
The last major renovations at Green
Briar were completed in 1984. Since then, the Society has
continued to develop and improve its programs and services.
Now it is time to expand and upgrade our facilities to meet
the needs of the growing community we serve. We hope you
will help.
This new state-of-the-art
center has large classrooms, expanded office space,
exhibit areas and storage. The Green Briar staff, visiting
educators and volunteers will use the new building "to
inspire reverence for wildlife and concern for the natural
environment" to the thousands of students of all ages
who visit us.
Phase two of the project will
include renovations and improvements to the existing Green
Briar building and Jam Kitchen and more work on the grounds.
Also included in phase two will be a major effort to secure
more endowment support for both general operating
and the Shirley G. Cross Wildflower Garden.
Donations and pledges to the
Campaign for Green Briar are still being sought and are
fully tax deductible. Members and friends may also
contribute to the campaign by purchasing a
commemorative
memorial brick for the walkway to be constructed between
Green Briar and the new Education Center. Bricks are $100
or $250.
For information on how you can help
with a monetary contribution/pledge or the purchase of a
brick, please call the Development Office at 508-888-6870
Please come by and visit our new
building and especially our resident animals: Koa the
Cornsnake, Miss Prickles the hedgehog, Emma the Guinea Pig,
Sir Speedy the Mediterranean Tortoise and all the other
animals.
