Scheduling and Fees for other programs

BADGE and PATCH WORK
Troops and Dens can schedule programs after school, on weekends or during vacation weeks.
Programs run 1-hour to 1.5 hours depending on age level. We do not provide the badges or patches.
List of Brownie Try Its and Junior Badges listed above.
Cost: $3.00 per scout with a $30.00 minimum.

JAM WORKSHOPS
Scouts can prepare their own delicious jam in our circa 1903 kitchen.
Scheduled after school, on the weekend or any day during January and March.

Choose one of the following jams:
Apple Pear, Apricot, Blueberry (in season), Cranberry Apple, Cranberry Strawberry, or Strawberry (in season).
COST: $34.00 per pot.
One, two or three scouts may work on one pot. Each pot yields 5 to 6 (8-ounce) jars

LOCATIONS

GREEN BRIAR NATURE CENTER:
Situated on the shore of the “Smiling Pool” pond, Green Briar is located just off Route 6-A, 2 miles east of Sandwich Village.
Take Exit #3 off Rt. 6. Head North towards bay and turn left onto Rt. 6-A. Travel 6/10 mile to Discovery Hill Rd on left. We are on the right.

EAST SANDWICH GAME FARM:
The Society manages this property which is owned by the Commonwealth of Mass.
It is maintained as a wildlife and recreation area. Take Exit #3 off Rt. 6. Head North towards bay and turn right onto Rt. 6-A. Travel approx. 2 miles and turn right at the split driveway just before the marsh. Follow drive through gate to buildings near field.

Troop Overnight

WHEN CAN WE COME?
Overnights are scheduled at Green Briar Friday evening to Saturday morning from September through June.
Troops with tents may choose to camp with a staff naturalist out at the East Sandwich Game Farm weekends from May through October. Dates are scheduled with the Education Director. (See below for details)

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
The cost for the overnight is $330.00 for up to 18 scouts. Up to 4 adults are free. Each additional person is $22.00

CANCELLATION POLICY
A 50% deposit is due two weeks prior to start of program.
Refund less $25.00 cancellation fee will be given for a cancellation received within 48 hours prior to program.
No refund of deposit if less than 48 hours notice of cancellation.

WHAT DO WE BRING?
Each person needs to bring sleeping bag, sleeping pad, pillow, PJ’s, toiletries, and warm clothing for night hiking.
We always go on a night hike unless weather prohibits.
TENTERS: There is a new restroom facility at the Game Farm with flush toilets and electricity. All food related equipment is provided

WHAT FOOD IS PROVIDED?
Night Snack is s’mores at the fire pit outdoors (weather dependent) or Popcorn and Juice.

Breakfast at Green Briar includes: fresh fruit salad, choice of either cold cereal or pancakes, milk, hot cocoa and juice.
Breakfast for Tent campers includes: fruit salad, choice of bagels or cold cereal , hot cocoa or juice, and milk.
Coffee and Tea are available for adults.

WHERE DO WE SLEEP?
Green Briar: everyone sleeps on the floor. Location is dependent upon the group size. Your troop will be the only troop on site.
Tent campers set up in the activity field near to indoor restrooms.
There are no shower facilities at either site.

WHO WILL BE WITH US?
A staff naturalist stays with your group. Only one group is scheduled per overnight.

CAN WE VISIT THE GIFT SHOP?
Green Briar ONLY. We do not encourage groups to visit the gift shop. The gift shop does not open until 10:00 am.

VISITS WITH THE ANIMALS
Green Briar ONLY. The animal room is open for exploration. Many of our scout programs take place here.
Scouts may have an opportunity to handle the animals at the naturalist’s discretion.

WHAT DO WE DO IF IT RAINS?
Tent Campers may move to Green Briar in case of inclement weather.
Leaders will discuss location shift with Burgess staff the day before scheduled to arrive.
Programs at Green Briar are rain or shine.
Activities will be shifted as needed.
