May 14, 15, 16: HERB FESTIVAL at Green Briar from 10 am - 4 pm. Our 29th annual Herb Festival features an extensive plant sale (herbs, perennials, wildflowers, everlastings and annuals), exhibits and lecture/demonstrations on the use of herbs, guided garden walks and a delightful luncheon accented with herbs. Paid reservations required for luncheon and lectures. Please call (508)888-6870.  

June 4 & 5:   RHODODENDRON FESTIVAL Friday and Saturday, 10am – 4pm
This two-day celebration of rhododendrons will feature private garden visits, hybridizing rhododendron demonstrations, a rare rhododendron auction, exhibits, authors & book signings, plant sale, horticulture lectures by Sharon Ackland, Mal Condon, Irwin Ehrenreich, Paul Miskovsky and Larry Pannell and so much more!

Tickets are $25 for members of either organization, $30 for non-members and are good for both days. They may be purchased at Green Briar or Heritage Museums and Gardens.

June 12:  STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL at Green Briar from 11 am - 2 pm.  Enjoy fresh strawberries in a scrumptious dessert. View strawberry jam making in the historic 1903 jam kitchen.  Visit the small resident animals at the nature center and stroll the paths of the wildflower garden and Briar Patch trails.  Desserts are $4 and all proceeds benefit the educational programs of the Thornton W. Burgess Society and its Green Briar Nature Center.

July 14:  GARDEN TOUR in Sandwich from 11 am - 3 pm.  Visit  a number of lovely private gardens in Sandwich at your leisure anytime between 11 am and 3 pm.  Tickets for the Garden Tour are available in advance or on the day of the tour for $15.

August 7:   BLUEBERRY FESTIVAL at Green Briar Nature Center & Jam Kitchen from 11 am to 2 pm.  Celebrate our native blueberry during the height of the season.  Enjoy a special  blueberry dessert in the historic 1903 Jam Kitchen along with a demonstration of blueberry jam making.   Desserts are $4, and all proceeds benefit the educational programs of the Thornton W. Burgess Society and its Green Briar Nature Center.

August 11:  PETER RABBIT'S ANIMAL DAY at Thornton W. Burgess Museum, Route 130, Sandwich from 10 am - 2 pm. This day of outdoor family fun with live animal exhibits, a pet rabbit show, story times, and personal appearances by Peter Rabbit, Reddy Fox and Smokey the Bear. Refreshments are available.   Free admission.

August 28:  AN EVENING AT GREEN BRIAR   A gala event is being planned for this annual fund raiser to be held at the Green Briar Nature Center on a beautiful summer’s evening. Details will be announced as they are confirmed. Mark the calendar now to save the date! This is an evening not to be missed!

September 11 & 12: 
BIRD CARVERS' SHOW & SALE
at the Green Briar Nature Center & Jam Kitchen from 10am to 4pm. Eighteen of the state's most prestigious bird carvers will show  and sell their wares. Some will give carving demonstrations for the public.  Admission fee of $3 for members of the Thornton W. Burgess Society, $5 for non-members benefits the Society's educational programs.

October 2:  CAPE COD CRANBERRY DAY at Green Briar from 10 am - 4 pm.  Green Briar celebrates this native berry with cooking demonstrations in the 1903 Jam Kitchen, special exhibits on the cranberry industry on Cape Cod and homemade baked cranberry goods, clam chowder & chili.  Admission is by donation. November 20:  OLD MOTHER WEST WIND'S CHRISTMAS CRAFTS FAIR at Green Briar Nature Center and Jam Kitchen from  10 am - 4 pm. Find something special for the holidays among our quality handmade wreaths, gifts and decorations. Enjoy some home-baked goods, mulled cider and a cup of our home-made clam chowder or chili.   All proceeds benefit the educational programs of the Thornton W. Burgess Society.

Dec. 4 & 5, 11 & 12, 18 &19:  COUNTRY CHRISTMAS at Green Briar Nature Center and Jam Kitchen from 10 am - 4 pm. (Sunday 1 - 4pm) Sample some mouth-watering products made right here on Cape Cod for over 100 years in the 1903 Jam Kitchen and a cup of hot mulled cider as you pick up some great ideas for your own holiday gifts and home decorations.  Browse in the shop for those special people on your gift list.
